Dear Prime Minister of Bulgaria,
I encourage you to rethink and stop the proposed break-up of the Bulgarian
Academy of Sciences, as well as the reduced investment in Science by
Bulgaria over the last 20 years. In the rest of Europe, the USA, and
most of Asia, science is regarded as a vital engine for innovation
and production of future national benefits. They consider the case
for investment to be clear.
Bulgaria has numerous very good, world-rated scientists, who want
to stay in Bulgaria and produce scientific discoveries and innovations
that benefit Bulgaria. The way to better the life of most Bulgarians
is to invest in the education and training of Bulgarians and to
give them opportunities in their homeland, not to push your educated young and
not so-young people to leave in search of better opportunities.
Sincerely,
Iver Cairns
