The group is divided into two parts:
    (1) the one, related to the material science, is transferred into the Institute of Metal Science, forming the "Department of Mathematical Modeling" in it
    (2) the second one is renamed into the "Mathematical Modeling in Physics and Technique" department
and resides in the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy

The group is renamed into the "Laboratory of Mathematical Modeling in Physics"

As a head of the Laboratory is appointed Assoc. Prof. PhD Dimitar Bakalov
