IV. International Symposium

15 - 21 August 2005, Varna , Bulgaria

Proceedings:   As announced, we are publishing separate Proceedings for QTS-4 and LT-6.   The Proceedings of QTS-4 spread over 966 pages and for technological reasons appear as 2 bodies:   QTS-4 Volume 1 and QTS-4 Volume 2, while the LT-6 Volume has 348 pages.   You can see the contents here:   QTS-4 Table of Contents Volumes 1 & 2   and here:   LT-6 Table of Contents.   The volumes are finalized and in print and are being sent to every contributor. For the mailing the Publisher is using the postal address given in the contribution, thus, if some contributor has given incomplete address, she/he should e-mail us a complete address as soon as possible.

The Scientific Programme

Scope and Topics:

The first Symposium of this series was held in Goslar (Germany) in 1999: QTS-1, the second - in Cracow (Poland) in 2001: QTS-2, the third - in Cincinnati (USA) in 2003: QTS-3 . The series started around the core concept that symmetries underlie all descriptions of quantum systems. It has since evolved to a symposium on the frontiers of theoretical and mathematical physics. In the 4-th Symposium, which is dedicated to the World Year of Physics 2005 , we foresee the following topics/sessions:

- Symmetries in String Theory and Quantum Gravity (1)
- Supergravity (2)
- Gauge, Noncommutative, Conformal Field Theories (3)
- Quantum Computing, Information and Control (4)
- Integrable Systems (5)
- Foundations of Quantum Theory (6)
- Quantum Optics, Coherent States, Wigner Functions (7)
- Dynamical Systems (8)
- Symmetries in Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics (9)
- Symmetries in Nuclear, Atomic and Molecular Physics (10)
- Symmetries in Chemistry, Biology and other Sciences (11)

(The above numbering is for (optional) use when filling the Registration form.)

Partially overlapping with these topics, but on a more rigorous mathematical level and with strong participation of mathematicians, the symposium will include as a substructure the 6-th edition of the International Workshop "Lie Theory and Its Applications in Physics" (LT-6). (For the 5-th Workshop see: LT-5 .) The Workshop will be co-organized with H.-D. Doebner and will be represented by several plenary speakers and parallel sessions on:

- Representation Theory (12)
- Infinite-Dimensional Lie Groups and Algebras (13)
- Quantum Groups (14)
- Superalgebras (15)
- Special Functions (16)
- Noncommutative Geometry (17)
- Symmetries of Linear and Nonlinear PDO (18)

Another independent activity is the   Workshop on "Quantum Systems Related to Noncommutative Geometries, Their Symmetries and Evolution Equations"   associated with QTS-4. This Workshop is sponsored by the   Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany)   through a tri-lateral Collaboration Clausthal-Leipzig-Sofia. The Workshop is organized by the leaders of the three nodes of the Collaboration (Doebner, G. Rudolph, Dobrev) and will be represented by several plenary and parallel speakers.

The work of the Symposium will be organized in five morning plenary sessions and four afternoons with several parallel sessions. Monday, 15 August, is the arrival day with registration the whole day. The talks start on Tuesday, 16 August, in the morning, and end on Saturday, 20 August, in the late afternoon. Thursday afternoon is free with organized excursion. Sunday, 21 August, is the departure day.

Conference Site and Travel:

The conference will take place at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" (VFU) (to see this in Bulgarian click here) on the Black Sea coast near Varna (10 km to the north-east). Varna is Bulgaria's third largest city and main naval port. VFU is a private university with Academic Profiles: Humanities, Social Sciences, Arts, Technical Sciences, but without Physics and Math Depts. It is situated in Resort "Chaika", which is a small resort between two of Bulgaria's best known coastal resorts "St. Konstantin and Elena" and "Golden Sands".
The most convenient way to travel is by plane to Varna airport. Travel by train is to Varna train station.
